Our Story

Rise of Alberta started in April 2026 for a pretty simple reason: I had become convinced that Alberta would be better off as an independent country, and I wanted somewhere to say it.

There was no grand plan. I wasn't trying to build a media company, launch a store or become a full-time pain in Ottawa's ass. I just wanted a place to share my thoughts about Alberta, independence and why I believed our province was capable of a lot more than being treated like Canada's permanent ATM.

Then Mark Carney won the election, Canada chose more of the same, and things escalated pretty quickly.

Rise of Alberta started growing at a pace I never expected. Posts were reaching millions of people, the following exploded, and it became obvious there were a lot more Albertans asking the same questions I was.

Why does Alberta send so much away and get so little control in return? Why should decisions about our resources, economy and future keep being made thousands of kilometres away? And at what point do we stop asking Ottawa for a better deal and start building something better ourselves?

That is really what Rise of Alberta became about.

A couple months later, followers started asking for hats, shirts and Alberta gear. I figured that if we were going to make merchandise for people who are proud of Alberta and excited about its future, it should at least look good. So the store was born too.

Today, Rise of Alberta is part news and commentary page, part merch shop, part meme factory, and unapologetically pro-Alberta independence.

We believe Alberta has the resources, people, economy and opportunity to succeed as an independent country.

More importantly, we think Albertans should stop being afraid to seriously imagine it.
